Safety equipment on snow

Choose your safety equipment on snow?

The immense happiness of the mountain in winter has always been met with the risk of avalanchesAgainst this phenomenon, the hiker will have to act quickly, and can only count on the help of his comrades of misfortune. The statistics show that you have to get a person out buried in less than fifteen minutes. This totally excludes the need for any external assistance.

Only one solution: the tryptic Arva, shovel, probe.

DVA (Avalanche Victim Detector)

The DVA is the only detection device suitable for skiing
because of the speed of its implementation in the event of an avalanche.
It is a transmitter-receiver the size of a walker that connects all hikers to each other.

By default in the "emission" position, it is passed to the "reception" position to locate avalanche victims. The search usually takes place in two phases: an approach phase and a final location phase. Usually and under normal conditions, a person who is buried is located in less than 5 minutes.

Probe

The arva can be used to search for the approximate position of the victim, but there is still a doubt. The probe will allow you to refine the result, to locate the victim with certainty, but above all to know the depth of burial, which will give you an idea of the size of the hole to be dug.
A probe is composed of a certain number of strands (6 to 8), of different color, and 40 cm in length. Its total length is 240 cm to 320 cm.

Snow shovel

It is shown that it is 3 to 4 times slower to free a victim by hand (or with skis) than with a shovel. locating a victim in five minutes is good, but what's the point if we don't have enough to clear her? The current shovels, made of plastic, are unbreakable, weigh 600 grams and can also help you make water at the shelter, build an igloo, make a spare sled...
So why not?

Attention!

- Wear your ARVA directly on the skin (otherwise, it may be torn off in the avalanche),
- Check the proper working condition and start-up of all the devices by starting each hike,
- Train regularly to handle the device: in the event of an avalanche, stress does not help, you will have to have the reflexes that save.
- Knowing how to give up a race, the DVA is not a guarantee of survival...
